My cousin got passed over for a job because of an AI screener. How is this legal?

Last I heard, over half of big firms use AI to filter resumes before a human sees them. It's legal because there's no law against it yet, but it can break rules if it's biased. Your cousin should ask for feedback and see if they can appeal the decision. Sometimes the AI misses good candidates if their resume doesn't have the right keywords. I mean, it sucks, but tweaking the resume to match the job ad can help get past the bots. Idk, maybe it's just me, but companies should be more open about how they use these tools.

Seriously, adding keywords from the job ad actually worked for me once.

My marketing resume got way more hits after adding "content strategy" keywords.

How many times have I been filtered out by a robot without even knowing it? I once spent hours on a perfect cover letter only to realize my resume probably never got seen because I didn't copy the exact phrase "cross-functional team" from the ad. Felt like a real genius moment. It's a weird game we have to play now, stuffing our resumes with the right buzzwords just to get a person to look at it. Makes you wonder how many good people get missed because they didn't guess the magic words.
