Just lost $150 on a 'miracle' pruning sealer I saw on Instagram
That stuff says it helps oak trees heal from pruning cuts and I coated a whole live oak in my Miami backyard with it back in March. Now the bark is all cracked and there's black goo oozing out everywhere - anyone else fall for this junk or know a way to fix it without cutting the whole branch off?

My neighbor sealed a palm tree wound with Flex Seal last summer and that thing looked like it was melting by fall. Sometimes the best fix is just leaving nature alone and watching from a safe distance.

150 bucks for Instagram snake oil, oof. That black goo you're seeing is probably a bacterial infection trapped under the sealer (it basically suffocates the wood). I'd grab a hose and gently wash that stuff off, then let the natural air do the healing you know, oaks have been managing their own cuts for millions of years without any miracle goop.

Got a jug of Flex Seal in my garage I've been scared to touch. Glad my impulse buys aren't the only ones looking dumb right now.
