You must've missed the part about a tripod.

Gotta admit I used to roll my eyes at people harping on about tripods, thought I could just prop my phone on a rock or something. Then I tried to do a proper sunset time lapse without one and got nothing but blurry garbage, totally changed my mind. A cheap tripod is worth it just for saving yourself the frustration of sorting through shaky shots later.
