Tried a new clear coat on a Tacoma and got a weird orange peel

I used that new JetSpeed 4500 clear on a 2021 Tacoma bed repair last month, expecting a fast dry time. It laid down smooth but cured with this tight orange peel that wouldn't sand out without cutting too deep. Turns out their tech sheet said to use a slower activator in temps under 70, which my shop in Denver definitely was. Anyone run into this and have a better clear for cool weather jobs?

That tech sheet fine print gets everyone. Always check the temp range before mixing, not after it's on the car. Switched to a universal clear that's less picky about the weather.

You ever notice how the worst problems happen when you're in a rush? I learned the hard way that mixing in a cold garage ruins the whole batch, even if the spray booth is warm. Now I keep a cheap thermometer right next to my mixing station. It's saved me from wasting material more than once. That universal clear sounds like a smart move for sure.

Wait, you sprayed in Denver without checking for a cold weather activator? That's wild, man.
