My barber in Akron told me his shop is getting a robot hair washing machine next month.
He said the owner bought it to cut costs. The machine does a shampoo and scalp massage in 7 minutes flat. My barber thinks his job is safe, but the new girl who just does washes is getting let go. Has anyone else seen these things move into service jobs?

Getting a robot hair washing machine" is a bit of a stretch. It's just an automated sink, like at a car wash. Still sucks for the girl losing her job though.

Yeah, the "automated sink" thing is spot on. I worked at a place that got one. Tell your barber to watch his hours like a hawk. When they cut one job, they often quietly cut everyone else's shifts too, saying business is slow. The girl who got let go should file for unemployment right away, no shame in it. That machine breaks down constantly, so they might call her back for temp work, but she shouldn't count on it.

That's how it always starts. They cut the easiest job first to save a few bucks. Pretty soon they'll try to replace the actual barber too.
