My grocery store's self-checkout broke down for 2 hours yesterday and it was complete chaos
I was at the Safeway on 3rd Street around 6pm trying to grab stuff for dinner. All 8 self-checkout kiosks froze at once because of a software update glitch. There was only one cashier working the regular lane with a line like 15 people deep. I just put my cart aside and left, went to the mom and pop market down the block instead. Has anyone else had a store just give up on fixing their machines and leave customers hanging?

You can't just abandon your cart over a 15 minute wait? That's a bit dramatic. Self checkout going down is annoying sure but acting like the apocalypse hit because you had to stand in line for a bit is a choice.

Right, because a 40 minute wait in a grocery store is exactly what I signed up for after a long day. Audacity of the store to have a full breakdown and only one human on the register. I'm with you on abandoning the cart, sometimes the most dramatic option is the only sensible one. Hope that mom and pop place treated you better than the Safeway ghost town.
