DAE realize they've been slicing onions the wrong way their whole life?

I saw a video last week where a chef cut off the root end last instead of first, and my eyes didn't water at all for the first time in 20 years. Has anyone else tried this trick and had it work?

yeah i saw that same trick last week and it blew my mind honestly. cut the root off last and my eyes were fine for the first time ever. been doing it every time since and it works like a charm.

Man, my buddy Mike at the shop tried that root-last thing. He was laughing his ass off because for 30 years he thought he was just cursed with watery eyes every time he chopped onions. Now he's fine.

Man @charles_young92 you nailed it, that root last trick is legit the best hack I've ever found in the kitchen. I used to cry like a baby every single time I chopped onions, thought it was just my fate. Then I tried it after seeing that same video and holy crap my eyes didn't water at all. I was so mad I'd been doing it wrong for like 15 years. Now I tell everyone I know about it and they all think I'm crazy until they try it themselves.
