Got told my email sign-off was too aggressive after I used 'Best' on a complaint letter

Switched to 'Thanks' and my refund request got approved in 2 days instead of the usual 2 weeks, has anyone else noticed how a tiny word change actually gets people to take you seriously?

Yeah I used to roll my eyes at people overthinking email sign-offs, but after switching from "Regards" to "Thanks" on support tickets I started getting replies way faster. Kinda ridiculous but the data doesn't lie.

Try tweaking the timing too. I switched to sending my "Thanks" sign-off emails right before lunch or end of day (like 11:45 AM or 4:30 PM) so it's the last thing they see before a break. Catches them in a better headspace compared to blasting it first thing in the morning when everyone's cranky. Also helps to match their energy (if they write short, keep yours short).

You know what, I was totally in that same camp too. Used to think a sign-off was just a sign-off, nothing to analyze. But then I tried switching from "Best" to "Thanks" on my emails to a vendor I always had to chase, and suddenly they started responding within the hour instead of the next day. It's weird how such a small thing can shift the whole tone of an exchange, but once you see the pattern it's hard to unsee. Definitely made me rethink all those little polite habits we take for granted.
