Hot take: A barber shop in Buenos Aires made me miss the old ways

I was in Buenos Aires last year and found a barber shop that felt like the past. The barber there worked with straight razors and hot towels for every shave. It made me think of when my own shop took time with each client. Now, back home, we rush with electric clippers and fast cuts. I miss the real conversations we had with customers. That trip made me see how much we've given up for speed. Do you think we can bring back some of that care?

Wow, that really hits home. I felt the same at an old diner last month. The waitress knew everyone by name and took time to chat. It showed me how most places just want you in and out now. That care feels lost, but spots like that diner or your barber shop give hope.

That barber shop story sticks with you, doesn't it? What do you think is the biggest thing we lose when we choose speed over care? Like, my local coffee shop used to remember my order, but now it's all app-based and no one looks up. Is it just about time, or is there something else that goes missing? Maybe the real cost is in how we treat each other as people. Can we really get that back without giving up modern convenience?

Totally, it's like when my local hardware store closed and got replaced by a big box place. You lose those small moments that actually make you feel like part of a neighborhood.

The weird part is how it makes you forget how to talk to people. You get used to not being seen.
