Binging a show about parent-teen conflicts opened my eyes to my own mistakes

I watched 'Gilmore Girls' with my daughter last month. We saw how Lorelai and Rory talked through their problems in each episode. It made me start asking open-ended questions instead of jumping to conclusions. Now our conversations are much smoother and less tense.

My friend copied a crime drama and now he analyzes every little detail around him.

You know what's wild. It's not just parenting shows. I noticed this after my wife got into those baking competition shows. Suddenly she's trying these wild techniques on a Tuesday night. The media we take in really DOES seep into our daily actions. Like guys at the gym copying workout routines from fitness influencers. We're all just picking up little scripts and habits from whatever stories we're watching, good or bad.

Honestly, I used to roll my eyes at @blairc90's point, but this post totally changed my mind.

How did 'This Is Us' give us a script for hard family talks?
