Figured out why I kept rewatching The Office every year

Last week I realized it's not the jokes, it's the comfort of knowing exactly what happens next that keeps me coming back for my 12th full rewatch, anyone else got that one show they cycle through forever?

comfort of knowing exactly what happens next" hits the nail on the head for me. My go-to is always Parks and Rec, I've seen every episode so many times I can practically recite the whole thing from memory. It's like my brain goes into standby mode and I don't have to think about anything except how bad Leslie's haircut looks in season one. Honestly, I think I just enjoy feeling like I'm the smartest person in the room, even if it's just me and my TV.

Same reason I eat the same cereal every morning. No surprises. Just comfort.

Ngl, I think this comfort-watching thing is just part of a bigger pattern where we're all just trying to control some small part of our lives. Everything else is so unpredictable - jobs, people, the news - so we cling to stuff we've already seen a hundred times. It's like building a little safety bubble in your own living room where nothing bad can surprise you. Tbh, I've noticed people doing the same thing with their music playlists or even the same podcast episodes on repeat. We're all just out here trying to find one thing that doesn't change.
