Pro tip: my buddy wrecked my whole perspective on rewatching shows
Was talking to my friend Jake last night and he said rewatching the same shows is just coping with anxiety, not comfort. He pointed out I've seen The Office 8 times this year alone. Now I'm wondering if he's right or if he's just being a jerk about my coping mechanisms.

Huh, that's a pretty heavy take from your friend. But does he watch anything more than once, or is he just coming at you for having a comfort show? I'm curious if he's got some go-to movie he's seen a dozen times himself, because that would make his whole argument kinda hypocritical.

1600 hours of The Office later, I am definitely the authority on comfort shows, not productivity. But yeah @murphy.tessa, I asked him and he just shrugged it off... says he doesn't have time to rewatch anything. Pretty sure that means he's never had a bad day that needed a familiar laugh.

Wait, does he really not have any show or movie he goes back to when he's sick or just wiped out? That's wild to me. I had a friend once who said the same thing, swore up and down that rewatching stuff was a waste of time. Then I caught him one night binge-watching old episodes of Spongebob from like 2003. He got all defensive, said it was just on in the background, but I saw him laughing at the jellyfishing episode. So yeah, people say they don't rewatch, but they almost always have something they sneak back to when nobody's watching. Your guy might just not want to admit he's human like the rest of us.
