Can we talk about how long it took me to figure out the book club voting system?
I joined a new book club back in January and thought picking our next read would be simple... just a quick vote, right? Nope. We spent three whole sessions arguing over whether to use ranked choice or just a simple majority. It took me about four weeks of back and forth emails just to get everyone to agree on a Google Form. Then we had to decide on a tiebreaker rule, which somehow turned into a debate about whether audiobooks count as reading. Has anyone else dealt with a club that can't agree on basic stuff like voting?

Honestly sounds like you need ranked choice voting for the tiebreaker debate on audiobooks.

Right, @michael_green44 is onto something though! If you'd had ranked choice from the start, that whole audiobook quarrel might have been over in one meeting instead of dragging on. Our club had a similar nightmare where we wasted two whole months just deciding if we could vote for books nobody had read yet. We finally settled on a simple majority with a runoff round, but only after someone threatened to start a separate club for people who actually wanted to discuss books. The tiebreaker rule ended up being whoever suggested the book first, which is totally unfair but nobody had the energy to argue anymore.
