Stopped a book club fight when I figured out we were all talking about the movie lines instead of the book.

That never happens with my Dune memories.

Nah, that's half the fun right there. If the movie line works better in the moment, use it. Who cares if it's not word for word from the book? The point is talking about the story, not being a human copy machine. Getting hung up on exact quotes kills the vibe. Let people mix it up.

That "movie lines instead of the book" thing is so common. My own club spent twenty minutes arguing over a scene in "The Goldfinch" before we realized half of us saw the film and half only read it. The adaptations just get stuck in your head. It's easy to forget what was actually on the page.

Classic mix-up. Does your club have a way to prevent that now, like clarifying before debates start? Or do you just roll with it?
