Hot take: spending $8 on a spice blend saved my budget chili
I burned $35 on random whole spices that sat in my cabinet for months, then bought one $8 packet of chili seasoning at the grocery store. It made my cheapest batch of beans and ground turkey actually taste good. Has anyone else found a single cheap shortcut that beats buying everything separate?

Stick with the $8 packet, man. Pre mixed blends are where it's at for quick meals.

Wait, was your thing also totally out of left field when it happened? Because I swear the universe has this way of hitting people with the weirdest curveballs right when you least expect it. Like, I remember one time I was trying to fix a leaky pipe for a customer and somehow ended up spending two hours just talking about her neighbor's weird cat that kept sneaking into her garage. It had nothing to do with the work I was doing, @evahenderson, but it's funny how random stuff sticks with you like that.
