I spent only $27 on groceries for a full week of dinners
I tracked every penny for my meals last week and the total shocked me. I made a big pot of lentil soup, a bean and rice skillet, and used a whole chicken for three different dishes. It made me see how much I was wasting before. What's the cheapest meal you've made that actually filled you up?

Break down that chicken cost for me, because a whole bird isn't always cheap. Did you get it on sale or just from a regular store? My go-to filler is a giant pot of potato and cabbage soup, costs almost nothing and lasts for days.

Got it on clearance for like five bucks. Your soup idea is smart, I should try adding some cheap sausage to mine next time.

Nice! A five dollar clearance find is a total win. What kind of sausage are you thinking of using? Also, @reesej27 makes a good point about the chicken cost, but a cheap smoked sausage would be a killer addition to their potato cabbage soup too for some extra protein.
