The week I saved $200 by booking last minute flights to Nashville

So last month I had a free week off work and just felt like going somewhere. I checked flights to Nashville on a Tuesday night and the price was $120 round trip from Chicago. I booked it right then and flew out Thursday morning. The catch was I had to stay at a hostel called the Music City Hostel for $35 a night which was fine. I ended up finding a $20 concert ticket at the Ryman because the show wasn't sold out yet. The whole trip cost me $225 for 3 days including food and a rental bike. Has anyone else scored a deal by just booking something random on a whim?

The $20 Ryman ticket is honestly the real flex here, I'd probably end up paying $80 for a nosebleed at the last second lol. My luck with impulsive trips is that I'd book a flight to what I thought was Nashville but end up in Knoxville and just pretend I meant to go there. The hostel life is underrated though, met some weirdly cool people at a $30 one in Portland once.

Wait, you actually got a $20 ticket to the Ryman? That place is legendary, I thought that was impossible.

Yeah it's legit if you camp the website and check for last minute releases, I've scored a few that way myself. The trick is to refresh around noon on weekdays when they drop any unclaimed seats. You just have to be ready to buy immediately because those $20 tickets go FAST.
