Can we talk about that guy who laughed during a eulogy at my cousin's funeral

At my cousin's funeral 3 years ago in a small chapel in Ohio, this old buddy of his let out a loud snort-laugh when the priest said he was 'always full of surprises' because it reminded him of the time they filled someone's car with packing peanuts.

Read something online once about how grief can hit people in weird ways and laughter is sometimes just a release valve. Like that viral video of the woman laughing at her grandmother's funeral because she remembered her grandma's terrible jokes. Doesn't mean the person doesn't care or is being disrespectful, just means their brain processed the moment through a memory that made them happy. Your cousin's friend probably wasn't trying to be rude, just got caught off guard by that memory hitting him at the wrong time. Feels awkward for sure but I bet that guy was just as embarrassed as everyone else was.

Read a psychology article that said laughter at funerals is just your brain releasing pressure from all the sadness building up inside you lol.

Is it really that different from crying at a happy moment though? Seems like both are just your brain short-circuiting when emotions pile up.
