Warning: Don't skip the safety briefing at a new job site
I was at a warehouse in Newark last week, first day on a loading dock gig, and the foreman rushed us past the safety talk... two guys nearly got crushed by a falling pallet jack because nobody checked the racking. Has anyone else seen shortcuts like this cause close calls?
I mean I used to zone out during safety briefings myself until I saw a guy lose two fingers on a conveyor belt that wasn't locked out properly. That changed my mind real quick.
Oh absolutely, I was the same way until I saw a guy get his arm caught in a press brake because he skipped the lockout procedure. It took seconds and it was brutal, definitely made me pay attention every single time since.
