Shoutout to my old knee pads for hitting 1,000 jobs
Just realized my basic pair of Cramer knee pads from 2012 have been with me through over a thousand installs. They were a gift from my first boss after I finished my helper year. The foam is flat and the straps are frayed, but they still get the job done. Anyone else have a piece of gear that just refuses to quit?

Tools that last that long become part of you. You know every worn spot and what it means. It's not just gear at that point, it's a record of all the work. My old tape measure is like that, the numbers are faded but it's never wrong. Good gear earns its keep.

Wow, I read something like what @margaretramirez said about tools being a record, and it really stuck with me.

Honestly that's awesome. My old Estwing hammer from trade school is the same way, the grip is basically smooth now but it just feels right.
