Debate: Did the iPhone 4 antenna issue kill the party, or did people blow it up too much?

I was at a family cookout in Detroit back in 2010 when my cousin held up his new iPhone 4 and said 'watch this' then wrapped his hand around the bottom left and the signal died. We spent the next hour passing it around trying to make calls and seeing bars drop. Some folks say Apple handled it fine with the free cases, others think it showed they rushed a major product. What side do you land on, or did you have a similar moment where a gadget let you down in public?

Thought it was overhyped until I literally watched my buddy lose signal holding it wrong on the spot.

That exact thing happened to me with my iPhone 4 back in the day. I was standing in a parking lot showing a friend how bad it was, and the call dropped mid-sentence. It's wild how something so simple can kill a signal like that.
