My coffee log hit 365 days straight and it made me think about the hobby
I just filled in my little notebook this morning and realized I've made a pour-over every single day for a full year. It started as a simple way to track beans, but the number surprised me. On one side, it feels like a real commitment to the craft, a daily ritual I truly enjoy. On the other, I wonder if it's turned into a bit of a chore, checking a box instead of just relaxing with a cup. For those of you who track your brewing, do you ever feel that push and pull between discipline and just enjoying the moment?

My habit tracker just shames me for my sleep schedule.

Congrats on the full year, that's a serious streak. I hit a similar point with my own coffee log and started leaving the notebook closed one morning a week. It broke the feeling of obligation without losing the habit. Do you ever take a day off from writing it down just to see how it feels?

My uncle kept a weather journal for forty-three years. He missed exactly two entries, both times during a power outage after big storms. The blank pages bothered him more than the hurricane damage.

What if the box you're checking is actually the good part? For me, writing it down is what makes the moment special, not just something that happens and fades away. The log turns a daily thing into a story you can look back on. I tried taking a break from tracking once and the whole ritual felt kind of empty, like I wasn't paying full attention. That little act of writing seals the deal and makes the coffee for today matter more than yesterday's.
