Foreman ignored my grade stakes on a 2-acre parking lot pad in Phoenix

I set all the grade stakes for a 2-acre parking lot pad in Phoenix last Wednesday, and the foreman told his crew to shave 6 inches off the whole thing without checking with me. Ended up with 80 yards of excess fill trucked off site and a change order that cost the client $4,200. How do you guys get superintendents to actually look at the stakes before moving dirt?

Ask the foreman if he's ever had to pay for his own screw up out of pocket, because that changes how closely they read stakes real fast. Did you stick the grade pins with high vis caps or just lathe flags?
