Gave up on full moderation and went to a blocklist system instead
I ran a small forum for 3 years where I tried to manually approve every post. It took 2 hours a day and people complained about delays constantly. Last month I switched to a community blocklist approach where users flag content. Did it work for anyone else or did you stick with human moderators?

Heard a bigger forum tried this and their spam dropped like 80% in a week.

Got a buddy who runs a modding forum. Big one. He tried that new captcha system last month. Said their bot accounts dropped instantly. Like overnight. He told me he went from deleting 50 spam posts a day to maybe 5.

Man that's wild how much it cut down the spam! It's like when my local coffee shop stopped trying to watch every single person and just let regulars call out sketchy behavior. Crowdsourcing works better than one tired guy with a clipboard.
