My TikTok comment got flagged for saying 'landlord'

I posted a pretty tame comment on a video about rent prices in Austin last week. Just said something like 'my landlord raised rent again.' Within an hour it got flagged as hate speech. I appealed it and they said it stays. Has anyone else run into completely random flagging like this on specific words?

Wow, seriously? They flagged "landlord" as hate speech? I guess my monthly rent payment is just me funding a hate crime now (who knew). I half expect the word "lease" to get banned next for being too aggressive or something. Their algorithm is clearly just picking random words out of a hat at this point. Might as well start calling mine "my friendly neighborhood rent collector" and see if that passes the vibe check.

Tried appealing twice with the same result, then I just deleted the comment and rewrote it saying "property owner" and it went through fine. No idea why that works but it did for me.

Oh man, I've been through this exact same thing... it's honestly ridiculous. What worked for me was just rephrasing it like Nancy said, but even simpler. I just said "the person I rent from raised my rent" and it went through with zero issues. The algorithm is seriously broken and just keying off specific words for no good reason. Don't waste your time appealing, just tweak the wording and repost.
