DAE miss when emails felt like sealed letters?

I mean, back then, my emails were just between me and the person I wrote to. Now, it's like companies scan every message to sell me stuff. How do we stop this from getting worse?

Actually some email services still focus on privacy over scanning. ProtonMail for example encrypts things so companies can't read your messages. The old feeling isn't completely gone if you pick the right tools.
