Thought independent medical exams were always biased until my own doctor sat in on one
My own neurologist reviewed the IME report and pointed out 3 factual errors the examiner made about my MRI results, which convinced me some of them are just sloppy rather than malicious, and now I'm wondering if anyone else has had a treating doctor catch mistakes in an IME report?

A friend of mine had her doctor catch the IME saying she had full range of motion in her shoulder when her file clearly showed she couldn't lift her arm past her chest. The doctor had to write a whole letter explaining the mistake. It's amazing how much can slip through when they're rushing.

Hate that this happened to your friend. I had a similar situation with a family member where the IME report said they could walk without a limp. Their actual medical file had x-rays showing a torn meniscus and they were literally on crutches that day. The insurance company tried to run with that report for months before someone finally cross-checked the dates. Makes you wonder how many people just accept those reports without a fight.

That part about "makes you wonder how many people just accept those reports without a fight" really hits home. @hannah320's story about the shoulder range of motion is a good example, but I'd add that it's not just rushing - some of these docs just copy old templates and don't bother updating them.
