Last week I tried a homemade scarification pattern and it went sideways fast

I've done maybe 10 scarification pieces on myself over the years, nothing too wild. Last Wednesday I decided to try a geometric line pattern on my forearm using a scalpel. I prepped everything clean, marked it out with a sharpie, and went for it. The lines came out uneven and one spot got irritated bad by Friday, had to switch to a wet healing method instead of dry. Has anyone else had luck with geometric scar patterns, or is it just me who ends up with a mess?

Oh man, wet healing is usually the move for stuff like that anyway so you probably dodged a bullet there. Geometric stuff is tricky because even a tiny slip throws the whole thing off, I've had way better luck with freehand curves personally.

Yeah man, I feel you on that. My first big forearm piece was a geometric mandala and after about a year the lines started spreading like crazy. It's still cool but not what I wanted. My artist warned me about it too but I was stubborn. Freehand curves definitely age better and they look more organic on your body over time.

Yeah I used to think geometric would look cleaner long term but this kind of lines spreading thing I keep hearing has changed my mind. Freehand curves just make more sense for how skin heals.
