Found a weird fix for flickering LED dimmers in my 1920s house

I was dealing with flickering kitchen lights for six months after swapping to LEDs, tried every dimmer on the shelf with no luck. Finally read a post about adding a cheap resistor across the load wire, and it smoothed everything out instantly. Anyone else run into older wiring causing issues with modern dimmers?

lol that's such an old school trick. pretty sure the ghosts in my walls were flickering the lights just to mess with me before I tried it.

ghosts in my walls" lol that got me. I had a similar thing with my bathroom light flickering like crazy and my roommate kept saying it was haunted. Turned out the wire nut was just loose and I fixed it with some electrical tape. Still kinda wish it was a ghost though, would be way more interesting than bad wiring from the 70s.

Oh man, that's actually hilarious @nguyen.angela. My buddy Pete had the exact same thing happen in his old place - swore his lights had a mind of their own until an electrician buddy just popped a resistor in there and called it a day. He still jokes the ghost is just chilling with steady light now.
