Rant: Had a client come in with a chemical burn from a DIY peel kit last Thursday
She bought a 30% glycolic acid kit online and left it on for 20 minutes, way past the instructions. Her skin was red, peeling, and super tender. It took a full 90 minute calming facial with aloe and ceramide products just to start the repair. The whole thing stressed me out because she could have really hurt herself. Has anyone else had to fix a bad at home treatment recently?

Why do people skip the instructions? That sounds so painful to fix.

Honestly, it's that rush to just get started on a project. My dad tried putting together a grill last summer without a single glance at the manual. We ended up with two extra wheels and the lid was on backwards. Took longer to take it apart than it would have to just read the thing first. Some lessons you only learn the hard way.

That line about "some lessons you only learn the hard way" is so true. I read this article once that said our brains are wired to want the quick win, so skipping the manual feels like progress even when it's not. I'm totally with @max_brown on this, you need one good scare to change your habits for good. My uncle did the same thing with a bookshelf and had a whole shelf facing the wall. It's funny later, but man, in the moment it's just pure frustration.

I used to skip them too, but a bad mistake taught me to always read first.
