That one time a trim took me all afternoon

I had a client bring in a rescue horse with really bad overgrown hooves. The front left hoof was packed tight with old mud and hard stuff. It took over three hours just to clean and trim that one hoof right. The horse was jumpy, so I had to stop and soothe it often. Rushing would have scared the horse and maybe hurt us both. I guess some jobs just need all the time they get, even if it feels slow. What's your story with a job that tested your patience?

Man, that makes me feel better about the time I spent forty-five minutes just picking packed gravel out of a single hoof. Felt like an archeologist on a dig. @paigesanchez is right about that vet's advice, because my big victory was just getting the dang foot clean without anyone getting kicked.

Focusing on the animal's comfort over speed is key. It stops problems and makes a good memory. That time was worth it for both of you.

Totally! I read a vet say that exact thing.

Ever notice how that slow, careful approach works with people too? Like when someone's really upset and you just gotta listen instead of trying to fix it fast. Same energy.
