I always thought the 'capsule wardrobe' idea was just a fad for minimalists
My friend in Portland swore by her 30-piece closet for a year, but I figured it was too strict. Then I tried it myself last month, focusing on just 5 color tones, and it cut my morning routine in half. I'm not fully sold on the number limit, but the color system is a game changer for mixing pieces. Has anyone else found a specific part of the capsule method that actually works for them?

Cutting your morning routine in half is a pretty big claim. Is getting dressed really that much of a time suck for people? The color coordination makes sense, but turning your closet into a math project seems like a lot.

Wait you did that in just one month? I tried the color thing for a whole season once and still messed it up. Cutting your morning time in half is crazy good, I'm honestly shocked it worked that fast. I could never stick to a set number of pieces either, that part feels like a trap. But maybe I need to go back and really focus on the colors like you did.

Actually sticking to a set number of pieces is the only reason it worked for me. The color thing falls apart without a real limit. Having too many options is what makes mornings take forever, even if they all sort of match. The math forces you to make hard choices upfront so you don't have to think later. It feels like a trap at first, but the trap is really your old closet full of stuff that doesn't work together. Giving yourself a strict rule removes the daily stress of deciding.
