That $40 harbor freight torque wrench that snapped on a head bolt last tuesday

I trusted that cheap stick torque wrench on a Cummins ISX head gasket job and it broke at 90 ft-lbs, so now I'm out the $40 plus an extra afternoon drilling out the broken chunk, has anyone else had a tool failure that cost way more in time than the tool itself?

Stop putting your watermark right in the center of the image

I kept seeing people do this in galleries and on instagram. It ruins the whole composition. I learned this from a designer friend who does album covers. Put it in a corner or along the edge. People still can't crop it out easily and your art actually looks good. Anyone else notice this hurt their engagement until they moved it?

That time I showed up to a date and realized I was catfished by 10 years and 30 pounds

Honestly, I matched with this guy on Hinge who said he was 32 and looked exactly like his pics. I drove 45 minutes to a coffee shop in Arlington, and this dude who looked like my dad's friend walked up to me. His profile said he loved hiking, but he huffed just walking from the door to my table. I sat through 20 minutes of him telling me his ex was crazy before I made up an excuse about my dog being sick and left. Has anyone else dealt with someone who clearly used pics from like 2014?

I think quenching in used motor oil is overrated (and my anvil paid the price)

Last Tuesday I tried quenching a railroad spike knife in some old 10W-30 I had sitting around, and the whole thing went sideways. The blade came out with this terrible pitting I couldn't grind out, and it smelled like burnt garbage for two days in my shop near Tulsa. Now I'm back to plain water for my small projects. Anyone else had bad luck with oil quenches from the garage?

Back in 2019 I had to pick between Salesforce and HubSpot for our CRM

We were a 15 person SaaS at the time and my CEO was dead set on Salesforce. I argued for HubSpot because of the easier setup and lower cost for our size. We went with HubSpot and honestly it worked great for 2 years until we hit 40 people and started needing more customization. Now I wonder if Salesforce would have saved us that migration headache. Anyone else make a choice like that and regret it later?

Smart lock vs regular lock after my package got stolen

I switched back to a regular deadbolt after my smart lock kept unlocking itself when I rebooted the router. That convenience wasn't worth someone walking into my house at 2 AM. Has anyone else had their smart gadgets do something creepy like that?

I laughed at my coworker for using a spray bottle for toner, now I do it too

I always thought using a spray bottle for toner was just lazy, like you couldn't be bothered to use a bowl and brush. Then my coworker showed me how she mixes toner with water in a 50/50 ratio and sprays it on roots, and it actually saves me 15 minutes per color application. Has anyone else switched to a sprayer for something they used to do by hand?

Just saw a real mess with the hoist ropes on a job in Tacoma

I was checking out a site on 6th Avenue yesterday and the rope lay in the sheaves was completely wrong, looked like someone tried to rush the install. Has anyone run into a new crew cutting corners on wire rope dressing lately?
