Showerthought: I used to think pockets ruined a dress line

Last week I was sketching a simple summer dress and left them out again. Then I saw a woman at the coffee shop in a really nice linen dress, and she pulled her phone from a side seam pocket without messing up the shape at all. I went home and tried adding a single hidden pocket to my sketch, just to see. It actually made the design look more practical and modern, not bulky. Has anyone found a good way to hide bigger pockets in lighter fabrics?

Try a curved pocket bag cut on the bias to prevent sagging in light fabrics.

Oh come on, is a hidden pocket really that big of a deal? I get it, they're handy, but @adams.uma calling it the "best upgrade" feels like a stretch. It's just a pocket. The real trick is making one that doesn't sag or show a phone outline in thin fabric, which is honestly really hard to do. Most of the time you can still see the lump unless the dress is super stiff. Maybe we're all just too excited to have a place to put our hands.

Hidden pockets are the best upgrade to any outfit, honestly.
