Just dropped $80 on a post level for a tricky vinyl job

Had a client who wanted a vinyl fence on a slope that was steeper than it looked. I usually eyeball it, but this time I grabbed a post level from the supply house. It clips right onto the post and shows you plumb on two sides at once. Cost about $80, but it saved me from having to pull and reset three posts that would have been off. What's your go-to tool for keeping things straight on uneven ground?

Skip the laser on long runs. Water in a hose never lies, even over a hill. Marked every post on my last sloped job in twenty minutes flat.

The water level trick is genius for long fences. I used a laser level last season, but it was a pain to keep steady over 100 feet. Ended up using string lines with a line level as a backup check. Took longer but got everything dead straight.

Oh man, that's a lifesaver on slopes. I've started using a water level for the long runs on really uneven ground. Just a clear hose and some water, but it lets you mark your post heights perfectly over distance.
