Went with a 2-gallon crock over a ceramic jar for my first kimchi batch

The wider mouth made packing way easier, and after 5 days the ferment was perfect. Anyone have a good gochugaru source that won't break the bank?

Nice call on the crock, that wide mouth is a game changer. What brand of gochugaru did you use for this batch?

Honestly, Amazon's a solid bet for gochugaru in a pinch. The Mother-in-Law's brand stuff is pretty reliable and you can get a decent sized bag. Tbh, the price per ounce is way better than the tiny jars at the grocery store.

Yeah, I was all about the ceramic jar for looks, but that wide mouth really does make packing easier. Totally changed my mind on this. Where do you get your gochugaru?
