A homeowner pointed out my plank stagger looked too uniform
They said it looked like a factory floor, not a real wood floor. I started mixing boxes from different lots on the spot and pulling planks from the middle, not the top. How do you guys break up the pattern on long runs without wasting material?

Wait, they actually called it a factory floor to your face? That's brutal. Mixing boxes is smart, but did you check the numbers on the ends to avoid repeats? Sometimes you gotta pull from three or four boxes and just eat the waste on a few cut pieces to kill the pattern.

Factory floor" is a wild thing to say to someone's face.

Yeah that's rough, heard that one before too. Honestly we just started pulling from like five boxes at once and mixing it up on the fly. Had a few short pieces left over but it broke the pattern enough that nobody could tell. Sometimes you just gotta waste a little material to make it look right.

Mixing boxes reminds me of my friend's floor that looked like a weird barcode.
