My friend swore his 'protein' cereal was the real deal

We were at his place last month, grabbing a quick breakfast. He pulls out this box with huge letters saying 'HIGH PROTEIN' and 'HEALTHY ENERGY'. He's pouring it, telling me it's his secret for staying full until lunch. I look at the label. First ingredient? Sugar. Second? More sugar, just a different kind. The protein was way down the list, like 5 grams per serving. I pointed it out. He just shrugged and said, 'But it says protein right on the front, man.' The box was covered in pictures of nuts and wheat, but it was basically candy. Has anyone else had to explain to a grown adult that the big word on the front doesn't mean anything?

Honestly, is it that big of a deal though? People buy stuff cause it tastes good and the box looks nice. Like quinn_reed17 said, the front is just an ad, everyone knows that. If your friend feels full eating it, then it works for him. Maybe just let people enjoy their sugary cereal in peace.

That's the cereal aisle in a nutshell, right? They slap a picture of a mountain on the box and call it "granola." My brother fell for the same thing with "high fiber" cookies that were basically sawdust and syrup. Gotta read the back, the front is just an ad.

My aunt bought "protein bars" that were just candy bars with extra sugar.
