Cleaned my 500th piece of furniture this morning

It was a beat-up oak dresser from a house sale in Spokane. Hit the number when I logged it in my book. Back when I started, we used a lot more hand sanding and old-school shellac. Now it's all water-based stuff and orbital sanders. Still feels good to bring the wood back, though. Anyone else keep a count of their projects?

Naming them is a fun idea. I read an article once about a restorer who gave each piece a name based on where it came from, like "the Maple Street sideboard." It seemed to add a personal touch to the work.

Doesn't that make selling them harder?

Oh wow I actually used to think naming stuff was silly too. But @the_christopher is right, it totally changes how you see the piece. Makes it way harder to let go though, not gonna lie.
