My credit union told me to stop using my debit card for online orders, saved me $45 in fraud fees last month

They said debit cards have weaker protections than credit cards for sketchy sites, so now I only use a prepaid Visa for those purchases. Anyone else switch to a separate card just for online shopping?

Claire's PayPal card setup is smart. I got a Capital One Quicksilver with a separate virtual number for each site. Keeps my main accounts safe and I still get 1.5% cash back.

Nah, I gotta push back a little here @aaron740. Virtual numbers are nice but they can be a hassle when you need to return something and the merchant tries to match the transaction to that specific card. I've had stores deny refunds because the virtual number expired or changed between purchase and return. Plus Capital One's customer service is a pain to deal with compared to PayPal's dispute system when something goes wrong.

Switched to a separate PayPal card myself, never looked back.
