Rewatched Lost last month and it hit way different at 32 than when I saw it at 19

Back in 2010 I was glued to Lost every week with my college roommates in our dorm at Ohio State. Last month I binged the whole series in like 10 days and man, the character arcs felt so much deeper now that I've actually lived through some rough stuff. The ending still divides my group chat though. Did anyone else find the finale way more emotional as an adult?

Used to think Lost was just a big mystery box that never paid off honestly. The finale felt like a cop out back when I first watched it. But now after going through some actual loss and hard times in my late twenties, that church scene hit me like a truck. Jack realizing he was dead and seeing all those people he connected with over the years got me tearing up in my living room at like 2am. It changed how I saw the whole message of the show. Still not saying the ending is perfect but I get what they were going for now.

Nah man I gotta disagree. The finale still felt like a cop out to me even after rewatching it older. Lost was great at making you feel stuff in the moment but the mystery box thing never paid off and the church scene just felt like a cheat code for emotional closure without earning it.

Actually the church scene in the finale wasn't about them being dead the whole time, that's a common mix up. They all died at different points in their lives and the church was like a gathering place in the afterlife or purgatory before they moved on together.
