Someone actually paid you for that? At a con? You must be the first person in history to get a liquid reward for explaining math. I've seen people get screamed at for less. Was there a hidden camera or did you stumble upon the one person there with a functioning wallet?

The "functioning wallet" line got me. It reminds me of the time I tried to explain why the Death Star plans were on a physical disc, like @beth276's friend with the pizza but way less successful. This guy at a con just kept asking about interstellar FTP and if the Bothans died for a USB stick. I didn't get coffee, I just got a very long talk about his headcanon for alien Wi-Fi. Sometimes the reward is just the confusion you cause along the way.
