I finally understood what 'deconstructed' meant after a weird chat at a fabric store in Boise.
This older guy next to me at the remnant bin picked up a piece of frayed silk and said, 'My dog ate my couch, but this gives me a vision.' Has anyone else gotten a design idea from a totally random comment?

My uncle in Detroit once built a whole bookshelf because a cashier said her groceries were "stacked wrong." Those offhand remarks can unlock a creative block, you know? It's like our brains need that little nudge from the outside world to make a new connection.

Yeah that's so true lol. @jessej23 your uncle's story is a perfect example of how a random comment can just flip a switch in your head.

Oh totally, that's the best kind of creative spark! It's like someone hands you a key to a door you didn't even know was locked. My neighbor once muttered about her "sad looking" hydrangea bush, and it somehow made me completely rethink the color palette for a painting I was stuck on. Those little outside thoughts just short-circuit our own overthinking.
