During our kitchen cabinet organization, I figured out a simple trick to keep my curious cat from jumping on counters.

Honestly, my buddy tried something similar with his cat and it backfired hilariously. He put double-sided tape on the edges, but the cat just learned to avoid those spots and still jumped everywhere else. Ngl, cats are just too smart for most tricks.

Tried tape too, but what finally worked was covering spots with aluminum foil, they hate the texture.

Orange peels on the counter stopped my cat immediately.

Seriously, orange peels? My cat would probably just bat them around like toys. After the aluminum foil failed, I resorted to strategically placed cucumbers, which worked for all of five minutes. Cats are basically furry little hackers finding loopholes in our pathetic human security systems. At this point, I'm convinced they're just tolerating our attempts to control them.

Watched my neighbor's cat completely ignore a spray bottle meant to keep it off the furniture. It just stared at her until she put the bottle down, then hopped right back up like it owned the place. Sometimes I swear they're just testing our patience for their own amusement!

Last summer, I used motion-activated air cans on my sofa. After a few startled leaps, my cat learned to avoid it COMPLETELY. Consistency really is the secret.

My cat used to treat the kitchen counters like his personal stage until I lined them with double-sided tape. He'd leap up, get stuck for a second, and then dart off with this offended look on his face. After a week of consistent tape placement, he finally gave up and now only attempts it when I'm not around. What's your go-to method for after-hours counter patrol?
